Overtime weekend work for fast-paced delivery
CG+C Group, comprising Connex, CPE Construction, and CGC Site Services, was engaged to complete upgrade works to the Greenham & Sons Tongala Facility, a sixth generation family-owned beef processing plant. A critical component of this scope involved the installation of a new cow race, which needed to be designed, fabricated, and installed within a very tight one-month timeframe to meet the facility’s opening date.
Our Solution:
Recognising the challenging timeline, CG+C Group employed an accelerated design process, commencing procurement activities whilst the shop drawings were still being finalised by Connex. This required CPE Construction to work overtime, including weekends, to ensure the fabrication stayed on schedule. CG+C Group also leveraged its long-standing relationships with suppliers Infrabuild and Furphy Galvanizing to secure quick turnaround times for steel processing and galvanizing. This enabled the group to maintain the compressed program. Finally, CGC Site Services worked diligently to receive the steel deliveries over the weekend and complete the installation in time for the facility’s opening.
The Result:
Despite the extremely tight one-month timeline, CG+C Group successfully delivered the new cow race for the facility upgrade. The group’s ability to adapt its processes, work collaboratively across its member companies, and leverage supplier relationships proved crucial in meeting the client’s critical opening deadline. This project served as a robust test of CG+C Group’s agility and integration, demonstrating its capacity to tackle fast-paced, high-pressure projects without compromising quality or safety. The successful outcome reinforced the group’s reputation as a trusted partner for time-sensitive, mission-critical infrastructure works.
