The Mount Derrimut Road Level Crossing Removal Project represented a critical infrastructure upgrade targeting transportation efficiency and safety. CG+C Group deployed a multi-pronged approach, with CPE Construction and Concept Rigging strategically positioned to tackle the project’s complex requirements. While CPE Construction initially focused on primary structural steel works as employed by Built Environs, Concept Rigging’s expertise became pivotal in managing additional installation requirements and challenges. The project demanded precise engineering coordination, with tight deadlines requiring intricate collaboration between specialised subcontractors.
Our Solution:
The CG+C Group team developed a comprehensive approach to address the project’s technical and logistical challenges. By implementing detailed prefabrication planning, the team optimised steel component manufacturing and created custom engineering solutions for the architecturally unique Bunjil Canopy. The canopy reflects the outstretched wings of Bunjil, the Great Creator Spirit, as shared in stories by the Traditional Owners. A modular fabrication approach was employed to minimise on-site construction time, complemented by precise 3D modeling and computer-aided design to ensure structural integrity. Collaborative planning between CPE Construction and Concept Rigging streamlined installation processes, while advanced welding and connection techniques were utilised to meet stringent infrastructure standards.
The Result:
The project exemplified CG+C Group’s exceptional engineering capabilities and strategic project delivery. Through meticulous planning and expert execution, the team successfully fabricated 215 tonnes of specialised steel with absolute precision and zero structural compromises. Concept Rigging’s expert management of critical installation timelines ensured the flawless delivery of the architecturally complex Bunjil Canopy. The project achieved seamless integration of technical and architectural elements, maintaining 100% compliance with project specifications and safety requirements. By precisely meeting project milestones and completing the station on time for its opening date, CG+C Group minimised community disruption and demonstrated an unparalleled ability to transform complex infrastructure challenges into successful engineering outcomes.
